Quilting Basics - Happy Hour Workshop
The Happy Hour book is ideal for the new quilter to learn the foundational skills of accurate cutting, piecing, assembling the blocks, adding borders, layering and machine quilting. More experienced quilters will be delighted at the speed in which these modern designs come together.
The book is included with your class fee and features several quilts, bags, table toppers, and a cushion. You will choose from 3 quilts in the book.
We love this book as it has "second helpings" projects to use up the scrap cuts from the quilts. With the skills learned during class, you will be able to take on any of the projects in the book with confidence.
The following will be taught during class:
Week 1 - Cutting and Piecing
Week 2 - Assembling the blocks
Week 3 - Adding borders
Week 4 - Layering preparing binding
Week 5 - Machine Quilting
Week 6 - Binding
You will need to bring to class:
Rotary cutter
6" x 24" or 6.5" x 24" ruler
Seam Ripper
Coordinating thread
Fabrics (stop by the shop to pick up your book and we will review the fabric requirements with you. We have several curated bundles you can chose from for your quilt.)
You will receive a 20% discount on the supplies you purchase for this class at The Sewing Cafe.
Homework must be done between classes. If you do not have access to a sewing machine, you can book time in our classroom for $15 per hour.
NOTE: This workshop starts on Oct 3 and there is 1 week until the next class on Oct 17, to allow time to do the homework.
There are no makeup classes scheduled for this workshop. Please ensure you are able to come to each one.

During this workshop, you will learn how to calculate how much fabric you'll need for your binding, how to join the strips and 2 ways to sew it on and how to do that final join, once its sewn on.
