Quilting Basics - Paper Piecing
Come join us for 2 sessions where we will demystify paper piecing by making 2 figures for "The Whale and I Quilt” by Jennifer Sampou.
During the first session, we will delve into fabric selection and technique as you work on one of your choices of the Swimmer, The Mermaid or the Diver.
In the second class, we will take on the more complex Whale and we learn to join multiple paper pieced sections.
Once you see how easy and fun it is to paper piece, you will easily be able to transfer your new skills to future paper piecing projects.
We will provide the sewing machines, paper and assorted scrap fabrics. Included in the class fee is "Add a Quarter Ruler".
Please bring a basic sewing kit and if you have any particular fabric scraps you wish you use.
Note: Quilt background fabrics are not included.
Participants who would like to follow this quilt all the way through, are encouraged to sign up for our Appliqué Class, Free Motion Quilting Class and Border and Bindings.

The final step in quilt making. During this workshop, you will learn how to calculate how much fabric you'll need for your binding, how to join the strips and 2 ways to sew it on and how to do that final join, once its sewn on. Bring your quilted quilt from the previous lessons or another one that needs binding and get it started. Please bring a basic sewing kit including threads, pins and clips if you prefer.
