We want everyone to learn how to sew! Our Sewing Basics and Ready-to-Wear classes are ongoing. As long as there is room in one of our scheduled class times, you can start when it fits your schedule.

After School Sewing

Sign your child up for exciting sewing classes that will help them learn to sew, and have fun while doing it!

Projects geared to the level of the student. Open to children aged 8 – 13. All sessions include all materials, equipment, and a snack!

Sewing Basics

All ages are welcome! Whether you are 8 years old or 88 years young. With your desire to learn, we will teach you how to sew in our Sewing Basics 1, 2 & 3. You can be a complete novice or in need of a refresher, as you haven’t sewn since high school! Machine sewing as well as hand sewing. Includes all materials and equipment, including a sewing machine.

Long Arm Quilt Machine Rental

Do you have quilt tops waiting to be quilted? Somewhere between the cutting, the piecing and then the binding, the quilting needs to be done. Whether you have baby quilts, table runners or a king size quilt, you can rent our long machines to quilt them.

With our 12’ HQ frame and the 20” Amara quilting machine you will use our Pro-Stitcher computer program to perfectly quilt your quilts.

We also have the Simply Sixteen standup long arm machine on a 5’ Little Foot frame if you want to free-motion your project.

Rental pricing: Amara $35/hour
Simply Sixteen $30/hour

Sewing Machine 101

Need a refresher on YOUR sewing machine? Learn the basics including, maintenance, needles, proper threading and all the features of your machine. Bring your mechanical or electronic machine, all accessories and manual. We supply the fabrics.

2 hour session $50 plus HST

T Shirt Quilt Workshop

Create a Memory Quilt….gather up those t-shirts that have been sitting in your cupboard and stitch them together to make a quilt!  Basic sewing skills or Sewing Basics 1 required.

Saturday April 18 AND Sun April 19, 2020                 9:30 am – 4:00 pm each day

Cost: $155.00 + HST Includes the use of our garment press, irons and sewing machines.                                                  Interfacing, fabric for sashing, borders, backing and notions extra.

Sew with Me

Spend a fun afternoon creating valentine lavender hearts with your child.  Our Sew with Me is for boys and girls, 5 – 7 years old, with an adult, to spend a couple of hours machine and hand sewing and enjoying a cup of hot chocolate and treats. No sewing experience necessary.  We supply all the materials.

The Tunic Bible

A tunic can be as simple or as elaborate as you choose.  By simply changing a single detail and the fabric, you can affect the tunic’s entire appearance.  Create your own one of a kind tunic.  During this 2 day workshop, we’ll be using the The Tunic Bible book by Julie Starr & Sarah Gunn.  This book has so many inspirations, you’ll want to make more!

Cost: Includes muslin fabric and the use of our sewing machines.

Wallets, Wallets, Wallets!

The Slimline Wallet is a straight forward & easy to follow pattern. Its simple & lightweight, perfect as an introduction into bag making. A perfect gift for anyone who likes the “minimalist” look and doesn’t want to carry “everything but the kitchen sink” with them.  Will hold a slim cell phone as well!

Some sewing experience necessary to get this done in the allotted time.

Quilting Basics 

Learn quilting basics, rotary cutting and piecing while completing a lap quilt. We supply the rulers, rotary cutters, mats and sewing machines for you to use during class time.  Experience all the tools of quilting!

Some sewing experience necessary. Or you must have completed our Sewing Basics 1.

In 4 sessions you will complete the quilt. As there is homework, having a machine at home is essential or come in and use ours for $10/hour

$150.00 plus HST | Materials, threads and pattern extra. Please come into the shop prior to class start date to choose fabric and pattern.

Tote Workshop

Spend an evening making one of these perfect totes to carry all your stuff.  With a zipper at the top, you can close it if necessary to keep all your stuff inside!  There are 2 sizes to choose from, 15″ tall x 20″ wide (Large) or 10″tall x 15″ wide(Medium). You decide!  You’ll need to precut your fabric and interfacings prior to class.  We will email you the instructions when you register. We sell canvas fabrics, threads interfacings and some zippers in the shop. Create your own handles or repurpose handles from a thrift store find!  You bring the fabrics, zipper, thread and interfacing, we’ll supply the machine and all your sewing tools.  Some sewing experience would be an asset.

Come learn how to not be afraid of zippers! Learn how to insert a variety of zippers including an invisible zipper.

Necessary Clutch Wallet

Create a one of kind wallet with 12 card slots, zippered pocket and 2 long pockets for bash. Even fits your cell phone! Flap is secured with a turn lock. This workshop is 2 sessions. Some prep work is required before the first class. Sewing experience is necessary.

Fee for Workshop $75 + HST Pattern and use of sewing machine is included. Fabric, interfacings, thread and hardware extra.

Summer Sewing Camps 2020

We are taking registration for our Summer Sewing Camps! Pay in full by March 21 and receive a 10% discount.

Our camps are 9:30 – 4:00pm each day. We supply all materials etc, for the projects, as well as drinks and snacks. A walk to the local park each day for lunch is also included!  Cost is $320.00 +HST

March Break Sewing 2020

Come spend Fri March 20, 9:30 – 12:00, if you’re 6-8 yrs old, hand sew a cool project! Or spend 3 days with us making pajamas and other smaller projects, Tues, Wed and Thursday Mar 17 – 19 9:30 – 4:00pm. Cost: Friday $50 + HST and for the 3 days is $199.00 + HST

Lacy Bralette

Learn to make a stretch lacy bralette with adjustable straps for a fraction of the cost of one in the store. Pattern, fabric and notions supplied. Take home the confidence and pattern to make more!  Please supply bra size when registering.
Includes all materials, thread, pattern and the use of our sewing machines!

Cost $60 + HST

Some sewing experience necessary, including threading a sewing machine and understanding seam allowances.

Coffee Break Sewing

Need a sewing machine, serger, cutting table? Finish those UFO’s, mend those clothes. This is independent sewing as you work at your own pace and your own projects.

$10/hr plus HST | Please call ahead to make sure there is space and a machine available.

Prerequisite – Our Sewing Basics Class or a Refresher on our sewing machine before you begin ($10 plus HST).

Home Decor – Pillow Workshop

You can change the look of your décor with a few, fast and easy steps. Learn how to make perfectly shaped decorative pillows with invisible zippers. Sewing Machines provided. You bring your own fabric, thread, zippers and pillows.  Or purchase in our shop, your fabrics and invisible zippers. 10% off fabrics and notions bought for classes. Come in at least a few days prior if shopping in store.

You’ll need 2 – 22″ invisible zippers and 1 metre of fabric to make 2 – 18″ pillows. A bit of sewing experience helpful, but not necessary!

Class fee $40 + HST Fabrics and notions(thread and zippers) extra

Bra Making Workshop Spring 2020

This 2 day class focuses on personal bra-making. Classes are small, so you get lots of personal attention. Your teacher will do all the fitting, so you can concentrate on learning how to sew your new beautiful and comfortable bra.

Prerequisite – Sewing experience necessary. Should be able to sew a sleeve into a garment.

 Here’s what’s provided:

  • 2 full days of in-class instruction and all the fitting
  • Custom pattern for your perfectly fitting, most comfortable bra you have ever worn!
  • Paper for tracing your pattern
  • Course Kit: includes everything to make a bra
  • Really Bad Jokes
  • Free parking on the street or in the Green P lot behind the shop
  • Coffee, tea and goodies

You Need to bring:

  • Sewing Machine that will do straight stitches and zigzag stitches, in good working order ( and the manual, if possible)  OR use ours. Let us know upon registration.
  • Ball Point sewing machine needles, whether you bring yours or use ours
  • Sharp Fabric Scissors (Rotary Cutter if preferred, we have mats), trimming scissors (Applique scissors), paper cutting scissors
  • Pins and an Erasable Marker
  • Pencil and small ruler
  • A few spools of coloured of thread. (Your first bra will be white. Its a great idea to sew in a contrast thread so you can see your stitching, as this bra will be your reference for future bras)
  • Your lunch (there are also many good restaurants in the area)

This is a 2 Day Workshop

Saturday April 4 and Sunday April 5, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm each day.

Cost: $260.00 + HST Includes the pattern, custom fitting and 2 bra kits. 50% deposit due with registration.
